Introduction:

1. State the name of the text and it’s author


2. Give a brief overview of what the text is about (1-2 sentences)

State how you will answer the question. For example: Symbolism is used in the text to present the idea of illusion.

4. Outline the three key points you will make.


Body Paragraph:


S-tatement: identify what the paragraph is about. For example: The green light is used to convey the ideas that the American Dream is an illusion.

E-xplain: give context about the symbol in the text. For example, tell us when it appears, what it represents.

Y-der ideas: Comment on your idea in general and the thing that you have proved. For example: the Green light shows us that the American dream is an illusion by always being out of reach. The American dream was widely considered to be the secret to success in America however….and discuss how it has failed.
